Take A2 north and follow sign for Moville. Continue on the road after Moville, keeping Lough Foyle to your right. After approx 3 miles, coming down a hill, you can see Greencastle pier and harbour on your right hand side. Take the right turn before Greencastle Seafood building. At the end of this building turn left and the Museum is on the left.

The North Donegal Visitor Trail
The North Donegal Visitor Trail offers the visitor an opportunity to experience four top visitor attractions in North Donegal. Centred on the Fanad and Inishowen Peninsulas, the Trail also allows you to enjoy some of the most memorable scenery you are likely to encounter anywhere. With new ferry services across both Lough Foyle (operational) and Lough Swilly (planned to commence in summer 2003) it has never been easier to visit this little know region of Ireland which lies roughly midway between Glenveagh National Park in Donegal and the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland.

The participating attractions, including the Inishowen Maritime Museum, are:

Fort Dunree Military Museum   The only museum of its type in Ireland and a unique experience! You can also experience stunning scenery, visit a wildlife exhibition and take a stroll around a number of walks within the site.		Donegal Ancestry   If you are interested in your family roots then look no further than Donegal Ancestry which is Donegal's official genealogical research service. You can also visit the Ramelton Story which uses images, artefacts, models and film to tell the story of this important plantation town.		Flight of the Earls Heritage Centre The Flight of the Earls was a defining event in Irelands history. This exhibition, which is housed in a fort overlooking the point of departure of the Earls, tells this story in a lively and informative way and is a must on anybody's itinerary.

Although each of the attractions along the trail are unique in terms of their style and focus, collectively they will introduce you to a fascinating slice of Donegal's heritage, history and culture. The landscape through which you will pass whilst travelling between them has been shaped over thousands of years by the events which they commemorate.

The Fanad Peninsula
The remote Fanad Peninsula is characterised by a dramatic coastline that ranges from majestic cliffs and headlands to spectacular sandy beaches. It is a region steeped in history and its association with the Flight of the Earls has earned it a pivotal place in the political, social and cultural development of the island of Ireland.

The Fanad Drive is a well signposted touring route which encircles the Peninsula and is a memorable way to experience its variety and contrasts.

The Inishowen Peninsula
The Inishowen Peninsula is the largest peninsula in Co Donegal and is often described as 'Ireland in Miniature'. It seems likely from archaeological evidence that the earliest settlers arrived here around 5000 years ago and these and those who followed have left a rich and varied archaeological heritage which includes standing stones, tombs and other monuments. Many of these are signposted and accessible and are a 'window' to the areas past and its people.

The Inishowen 100 Scenic Drive is a 100 mile long signposted touring route around the peninsula and is an opportunity to experience some of Irelands most breathtaking scenery. Amongst its highlights is Irelands most northerly point at the wild and rugged Malin Head.
