You can build and fly your own rocket the Same Day!

These are not toys or water rockets – they’re the real thing, streaking hundreds of feet into the sky on a pillar of fire and smoke! Students get easy-to-build rocket kits, containing everything they need to build a rocket in a two-hour (approx.) workshop. Our instructor, Ash McFadden, is a Board Certified Level-2 rocketeer as well as the High-Power Rocketry Prefect for the Republic of Ireland. He's been flying rockets for 51 years and he shares his experience with students, teaching the theories behind rocket propulsion, flight dynamics and stability while helping students assemble their kits.

Workshops can be held in our rocket workshop/classroom or at your school or other venue. If you have a launch area approx. the size of a football pitch or even a car park, you have enough room to fly these small rockets.

Safety is paramount: No one, not even the instructors, handles dangerous chemicals or rocket fuel. When the kits are completed and safety-checked, students are given a single-use, pre-loaded rocket motor to insert in their rocket and sent to the launch pad. The instructor installs an electrical igniter and the student puts the rocket on the pad. The instructor arms the electrical launch panel and students launch their own rockets and recover them under parachute, ready for another flight or to display. Students can fly their rockets the same day they build them (weather permitting).

Rocket Workshops can be scheduled at your school or at the museuum by booking through reception or by email. (Plan on at least two hours, beginning to end.) The €25.00 cost of each rocket kit also covers a rocket motor, instructor and all materials and tools. Students can each build their own personal rocket, or team up with others to share a kit.

And, as you can see, students of all ages are welcome! Don't worry about being a beginner - we'll give you all the help you can stand!

Advanced Rocketry Builders are encouraged to advance past beginners' level. We keep a stock of body tubes, nose cones, parachutes and other components for rocketeers who wish to scratch-build larger, faster and higher-flying rockets from their own designs or ours.
