Inishowen Maritime Memorial Update in Progress
Some Names Are Missing!

The Memorial in front of the Museum was built in memory of all the men & women from Inishowen that have lost their lives at sea over the years.

The names that appear on the bronze plaques were given to both the Maritime Museum and members of the Greencastle Development Committee to be included on the list of those that died at sea prior to the casting of these plaques in 1997.

Unfortunately, some names are missing because the memorial was completed before the information was made available to us. Also, people have lost their lives at sea since completion of the memorial.

Therefore if you know of anyone whose name should be included on this memorial, an opportunity is currently available to add additional names.

If you have information about any person from Inishowen who lost their life at sea, regardless whether a sailor or civilian, and they are not included on the memorial, please contact the Maritime Museum.

*RLM stands for "Ridiculously Large Missile". We've built a flown a larger one since this picture was taken. It's called the BFM, shown below.

Our monthly launches of rockets, both small and large, are great spectator events and everyone's welcome to turn up at our launches to watch for free. If that's all you're interested in, stop reading here and turn up for the craic on the last Sunday of each summer month.
